Meet your KP Thrive Team Training Coaches! 



Tami Anderson-Rush, MS, ETT 

Tami Anderson-Rush has a Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology with a Minor in Nutrition and is an American College of Sports Medicine certified Exercise Test Technologist. She was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe California and currently resides in Roseville California.

Some of her professional roles include the following: created an “Exercise Basics” manual for the American Heart Association and employer groups implementing fitness programs; designed and taught exercise and nutrition classes as well as developed personal fitness plans at Pacific Bell’s Employee Fitness Center; was a lead Health Fair Tester and Coordinating Supervisor for Health Net’s employee Health Fairs; designed, implemented and supervised the Health Education Department programs for Sacramento Region’s Hill Physicians Medical Group and; currently works as a Health Education Instructor and is also part of the live well be well Team.

Tami has enjoyed exercise and the outdoors all of her life. Some of the sports she has a passion for include; running, cycling, hiking, swimming, snow and water skiing and scuba diving. She also loves taking adventurous trips, sporting events and any activity outdoors involving nature with her husband, two boys, and their dogs, Cooper and Winnie.


Moira Keene Acosta, BS, cPT  Moira head shot

Moira’s training as a health educator began in the rural parts of  Ecuador, where she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer.  While there, Moira worked designed health and led education programs for children, womens’ wellness programs, and cholera prevention campaigns.  She continued working in the field of health and wellness when she moved back to the States.  Her  path led her to teaching Anatomy/Physiology /Health to young kids and teenagers for several years.

She recently made the decision to get her Personal Trainer Certification to work more specifically with individuals on their exercise and health goals.  She has worked as a running coach for private individuals, club running teams,and high school track teams.  She currently works as a Health Education Instructor at Kaiser Permanente for live well be well (employee wellness), and the Corporate Health promotion team.

Moira’s favorite pass time is hiking in the Sierra’s-any trail around Lake Tahoe!  Any exercise that can be done outdoors is on her list of favorites, as she  is convinced that combining nature and exercise  is a pathway to health. She has run competitively in half marathon trail running events-her all time favorite type of competition.  Moira also enjoys spending time outdoor time with her family- especially.


Sharon Thompson, BA

Sharon Thompson has worked for Kaiser Permanente since 2002, and is currently an Event Coordinator for Corporate Health Promotion, live well be well, and Community.  She earned a B.A. in Psychology which has prepared her for work in motivating people to make behavioral changes.

Her love and passion for health and wellness started pretty early in life.  She is an avid outdoors person, with a love of nature and hiking.  Her favorite location is Lake Tahoe, where she spends a lot of time with her family.  Sharon started running with the THRIVE team when it first started 7 years ago.  She has run numerous races – 10K’s , ½ marathons, and most recently the CIM. You can find Sharon running on one of her favorite places, the horse trails on the American River Parkway. Trail running is a challenge that she takes head on!

Two years ago Sharon pursued her Certificate as a Certified running coach.  She loves to help individuals reach their goals no matter how big or small.


Kevin Pham, BS, MS

Ever since he was young, Kevin has had a passion for exercise and helping others.  His first love was originally basketball and his interest expanded to personal training, weight lifting, and helping others reach their fitness goals.  Kevin graduated Sacrament State University with a B.S. and M.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Exercise Science.  His experience ranges from helping older adults exercise at Eskaton Village Carmichael, interning at Arden Hills Strength and Conditioning, training employees at Apple Computers and Verizon Wireless, and overseeing Wellness Programs for Adolescents.  Kevin’s broad range of experiences has adequately prepared him for his current role as an Exercise Specialist for Kaiser Permanente’s Corporate Health Promotion.

On his free time Kevin enjoys cooking, hanging out with friends and family, exercising, and taking care of his one year old dachshund named Flik.  He looks forward to meeting you and helping you reach your fitness goals through the Thrive Team!


Teresa Winings, BS

Teresa has been actively involved in Health Promotion and Wellness field since the 1990’s.  Teresa has a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science and has the following certifications, American Council on Exercise Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Certified Personal Trainer.

Teresa moved to Roseville from Colorado in 1995.  She enjoys cross training and many different outdoor activities and adventures and loves to travel, explore nature, and most of all, spend time with her daughter.

Teresa works at Kaiser Permanente as a Health Education Instructor for the LWBW, Corporate Health Promotion, and Community Programs.  Her passion is teaching fitness classes and helping people find balance and to live a quality life.

Meet the KP Thrive Team walking and running mentors! 

The mentors are invaluable to the team. They are all employees of Kaiser Permanente and are passionate about the KP Thrive Team. Each one has accepted the roles and responsibilities of being encouraging, motivating, and selfless to help others achieve their goals. Whether it’s a first time 5K run from the couch, or a half marathon walk, to a full marathon and relay team; every mentor takes pride in helping others succeed! Meet Your KP Thrive Team Hiking Leaders

Joan Fairchild

Joan received a love of the outdoors at an early age from weekend family cabin trips on the Des Moines

river in Iowa. She played games of who could light a fire faster, who could build the strongest fort and who could find the most fossils. She has a B.A. in Geology and Environmental Studies from Cornell College, IA. She came to Kaiser Permanente in 1989 and began her career in the Pharmacy, then after a few years changed to Material Management and now has worked in Schedule Maintenance for 9 years.

Her favorite hike is the Grand Canyon, down to Phantom Ranch and back up Bright Angel trail. She always incorporates hiking on her vacations which could be big hikes in National Parks like Mount St. Helens, Mt. Lassen, Crater Lake, Half Dome Yosemite or finding city walking trails on visit to Midwest like the Bridge Trail in Ottumwa, IA. Most weekends, you will find her either hiking Auburn canyon area or in the Sierra’s. Joan has hiked Mt. Tallac, Mt. Rose, Donner Peak to name a few of the Sierra hikes. She has a goal of completing the Tahoe Rim trail. Joan has a cat named Princess Penny and enjoys cooking and Photography, going to museums along with spending time with family and friends.

Justin Wages

Justin comes from Placer Land Trust and LOVES the outdoors. He was raised in Fairfield, CA by his grandparents who emigrated from Spain in 1906 to raise sheep in the famous California grasslands. Justin graduated with a degree in Computer Science in 2002. Yet, having spent much of his life fishing, hunting, and enjoying the outdoors, he naturally turned towards a continuing education in the biological sciences.  He is currently working towards a degree in Ecology & Biodiversity, with an emphasis in grasslands.  His experience surviving stage 4 colon cancer has given him a new outlook on life.   His desire is to help others cope with mental and physical struggles by immersing them in nature and the wonders of our local ecosystems.  This has helped him to enjoy the outdoors more than he could have ever imagined!”


Meet Your KP Thrive Team Bike Leader

Peggy Gachowski 

“When my youngest graduated from high school I decided I needed a hobby and at that time my cousin asked me about riding the Tahoe ride in June. That was in 2009 and I got hooked!” Peggy rode her first century, America’s most Beautiful Ride around lake Tahoe. I have ridden several bike rides at least 2-4 per year distance varies from 65-100 miles. “I also challenged myself by joining the Thrive Running team starting in 2010 and did a marathon relay and since then,I try to keep running and my ultimate accomplishment  was running the full CIM in 2011. Peggy is a Kaiser employee of 33 years and keeps active on her days off. “I really enjoy the comradery of the thrive team and meeting new people and enjoying the outdoors with others. I look forward to riding with you!”
